A Success Story

In 2021, the Sheriff’s Department launched the Community Service & Reentry Division (CSRD), bringing together jail and community-based outreach with support teams under a single command. CSRD social workers and counselors work in the jail system providing life skills, substance use treatment, and reentry services to the incarcerated population, preparing them for a greater chance of success upon release. CSRD partnerships with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Five Keys Charter School, and private industry to provide further education and vocational training to incarcerated persons around the county. Through these interventions and partnerships, CSRD is working towards the vision of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous San Bernardino County for all residents.
